Hello friends, welcome back to the 17 minutes podcast. Okay, so over the last couple of weeks, we've started talking about a couple of patterns, a couple of these behaviors, to name them, they were urgency addiction, like treating everything in life like an emergency, know, holding it all together, making sure the balls don't drop, keeping everything good so that you can keep
moving forward, avoiding the bad, rushing to the next thing. So this urgency addiction. And then we also talked about self-sabotage. And for me, that self-sabotage shows up as creating chaos. I call it my inner rebel. You likely have self-sabotaging patterns. Maybe you related to the rebel. Maybe your self-sabotaging patterns are different. But these are just two of like the dozens of behavioral patterns.
and the unconscious drivers that quietly move us through our days and our decisions. So in today's episode, we're gonna talk a little bit more about additional patterns, your wiring, your makeup, and we're gonna talk about how those patterns might be showing up. And then I'm gonna get into a little bit of the solution. Like how do we start to work with these patterns? How do we start to recognize who we actually are?
are below the surface in the sense that like what is really driving me? If I want my life and my business to feel one way, if I want to make a million dollars, if I want to grow my audience, if I want to feel like an expressed entrepreneur and share my story but I'm not doing that, then what are the unconscious behaviors, the quiet patterns
that are driving my bus in like literally the exact opposite direction that I say I want to go. What I've seen is really smart entrepreneurs who try every strategy, right? Strategy after strategy and nothing would stick. They'll start strong, they'll get some momentum and then somehow it would fall apart or it would kind of fizzle out or they would lose that momentum and that drive.
02:25
And they quit and every single entrepreneur would blame themselves, right? They start thinking like they're not disciplined enough or what's wrong with me or maybe I'm not cut out for this whole entrepreneurial thing. I don't know, right? We internalize it. We criticize ourselves for it. But what we don't actually recognize is that we are.
trying to grow our brands and businesses. We're trying to live and operate like someone we are not. And as a result, we think that we're broken. But actually, we're just trying to force ourselves into these strategies that were never meant for us. They were never actually designed for our success. While strategies will work for certain people, all strategies will work for certain people and
actually a strategy that's not meant for you might even work for you for a short period of time. But in order for you to build sustainable success, in order for you to feel fully alive and expressed and true and at ease in your work, to get to a place where success feels sustainable and effortless and like, my God, this is so me, we cannot operate like someone else. We have to be
operating in alignment with our own behavioral design. And in order to do that, we have to know what that design is. Who am I? How do I communicate? How do I decide? What is my natural pace? What's my energy style? And these are some of the things that we're going to continue to talk about in the podcast, but I want to tell you something, okay? So for me, my kind of pattern, and if you've been in my community for a while, then
You know my story and I'll just give you like a really quick snapshot of it. So started a wedding planning business, grew it to multiple six figures, sold it, started a coaching business, grew it to multiple seven figures, closed it, grew a personal brand, grew it to multiple six figures, almost seven figures, and then pivoted it and rebranded it. And so there's this pattern here, right? Of like build the successful thing, get it to a place where it's working and then start again because something about it doesn't feel right.
04:44
So for me, when I did my own identity report about a year and a half ago, it explained everything, everything. It showed me that I'm literally wired to break rules. No wonder these cookie cutter systems and strategies eventually started to feel like torture. My energy is designed to thrive in challenge. I don't like monotonous details. Details.
bore me and so I check out. So to work with my energy, everything needs to feel like a bit of a challenge so that I can apply my thrust style energy, that's what it's called in the identity report, my thrust style energy to achieve something new, something that feels exciting. So of course I would get bored.
one thing started operating really smoothly, and then I would blow things up or close them down or sell them. Now, maybe your patterns are different. Maybe you haven't built multiple six and seven figure businesses and walked away and started again. That's not many people's stories that I'm aware of, but maybe your patterns are showing up in a different way. Maybe you keep forcing yourself into
the wrong strategies, you try to build massive audiences, but you'd actually thrive on fewer deeper connections. Maybe you force yourself to post like a high energy dominant entrepreneur who speaks directly, hello, that's me, but maybe you naturally have a more thoughtful, deep, introverted approach that you're ignoring because you don't think that that's what's gonna make you successful. So you're forcing yourself
to show up, to create, to be this version of yourself that is not true to who you are. You cannot sustain that in the long run. You will always burn out when you are operating as someone that you are not, when you are forcing yourself into behaviors, into systems that are not aligned with, that do not work with your specific makeup, because it's not who you are. So,
06:50
Maybe you're someone who has really tried to follow these like step by step sales strategies, right? But these step by step strategies shut down your natural magnetism. They shut down your ability to have conversations and those conversations are actually your style of selling. Can you see how like when I name these things and when we actually get real about it, you're like, yeah, right. Like duh, this is what happened to me.
Honestly, when I saw my own identity report, I was like, my gosh, no kidding. know, no wonder you keep shutting these businesses down. You're building them in a way that you are not designed to sustain. You're building them in a way that is not actually who you are. And that will never work again. It might work for a minute. It might work for six months. It might work for two years. But as soon as you get tired of it, as soon as you admit to yourself like, this is exhausting me,
or I'm burnt out or I cannot keep marketing in this way. I cannot post every day. cannot keep hoping to go viral. I cannot, cannot, I cannot. That moment is the moment that you will be like, okay, where do I go from here? Starting to build, starting to recognize and honor who you actually are is your next step. That's where you want to build from, from the place of this is who I am. This is what I want. And this is how I'm designed.
to build it, to get myself there. That's the only way for sustainable success, in my opinion, okay? Is when we build things that are really true to who we are, that are authentic and that are easy for us to show up for. Okay? Now, the point of this whole conversation is this. Like, we all have patterns, all of us, right? Maybe you don't have an urgency addiction. Maybe you actually move really, really slowly and methodically.
Maybe you don't self-sabotage by creating chaos. Maybe you self-sabotage by, you know, really needing perfection or procrastinating, whatever it is. But we all have these patterns and they quietly create our realities until we understand them. Until we recognize the pattern, we become aware of it. We, by seeing it, right? Like, my gosh, that's my pattern. I see it. And then we start.
09:14
to get really clear on how to actually leverage that pattern, how to work with it rather than fighting against it. In other words, building something, a life and business that is genuinely yours, right? Not trying to fit into someone else's mold, not trying on the strategies, the tactics, the step-by-step sales scripts.
that works for everyone else. Like this is where we really have to own who we are. There's another layer to this and it's interesting, right? Like I think sometimes we try and separate ourselves from our business. Like, yeah, I'm someone who likes to break the rules. I'm someone who hates details. I'm someone who like really is an introvert. I like to be alone. I like to stay quiet and I'm a homebody. But then when it comes to my business, I'm going to post every day and I'm going to be this like.
super excited, like loud, rah rah rah person on social media. And I'm gonna attend all the networking events and I'm gonna stay extremely consistent and I'm gonna, and I'm gonna, and I'm gonna. But actually, the other layer of this is like, your patterns are your patterns in your personal life and in your business life. So if you are an introvert in your personal life, then you need to find a way to honor the introvert in your business, right? If you are someone who hates details,
then you're going to need to find a way to work through the details in a way that you can support it and sustain it in your business. Our personal patterns, our personal selves are our business patterns. Who we are as people translates directly to how we show up as entrepreneurs. So you cannot be one version of Mallory, one version of Becca, one version of Lauren.
in your personal life and then like suddenly fully transform who you are to fit yourself into a mold of what you think makes an entrepreneur successful. This is like the world's craziest identity crisis, right? It's like going to work every day and being like, okay, gotta put my extrovert face on. my God, how tired are you gonna get? This is not, it's not sustainable. So what we really wanna do in this space and what so much of the like typical
11:31
business advice out there is just do it this way. Follow this step-by-step strategy and you will find success. You will create success. This is only ignoring the truth. And this is why all of those strategies that you keep trying on fail because business is trying to teach you that you can separate yourself from the business to act in a way that is not actually who you are.
They're trying to separate the business and the brand from the truth of you, from the authentic natural expression of who you are. But actually you and your business, you and your brand are one and the same, right? If you're an entrepreneur, then who you are as a person needs to be taken into consideration as you adopt, as you implement new strategies. Because if those strategies don't align with your behavioral wiring, with who you are as a person,
then your business will be something that you cannot sustain or you will start to resent it over time or you will burn it to the ground and feel the need to start again. So in my world, in this work, there is a rhythm to building success. There is a rhythm and a flow, there's a methodology that we follow to help you build the life and business that works for you.
not for a month, not for six months, not for three months until you burn out, until you fall over from exhaustion, from trying to implement these strategies that were never meant for you, but to build something on a solid foundation, right? To build something that's in alignment with your behavioral wiring, with your makeup, with who you are at the core, okay? So first, you have to build solid foundations in your life. If you are operating from chaos, if you are trying to build your business from this like,
crazy place of urgency, lack, scarcity. If you're in survival mode at home, then your business is going to reflect that energy. If you have no boundaries, if you don't know how to manage your energetic capacity, if you don't know how to have hard conversations, if you don't know what your vision is, if you don't know what your own cycles and loops are, then these things are gonna drive your business. So we have to start with creating solid foundations in your personal life as a woman.
13:45
before we can actually start to leverage your strengths to build a successful business. We see this all the time, know, people talking about like how every successful entrepreneur wakes up at 5 a.m. and drinks the green juice and does the workout and does that. I'm not gonna tell you to do that, okay? Because that might not work for you. That might not be who you are. But what we can take away from that is that every successful entrepreneur has a solid foundation in their life that supports their wellbeing.
their energetic capacity, their vision, their behaviors, their patterns, their wiring, their authentic version of self, right? And when we create solid foundations that support the self, then we can go out as entrepreneurs and create sustainable success. So we have to start with a solid foundation. Next, you have to understand your authentic identity. Not who you think you should be, not who the world tells you that you have to be in order to have what you want.
but how you are actually wired to operate. Okay? This is where the identity report comes in. So you start with life rehab, you get your foundation solid, and then you find out who you are. Who am I? What are my patterns? What's my energy style? How do I make decisions? How do I communicate? Am I meant to build big audiences, small audiences? How do I connect with those audiences? What are my sole clients drawn to and attracted to? What are my blind spots? What are the strengths I should be leveraging?
We need to know who you are. Third, we start to build. We start to build your brand and business from this place with solid foundations and a true understanding of your most authentic natural self so that we can leverage that self and build something sustainable, successful, beautiful, brilliant with that foundation. Most entrepreneurs skip step one and step two and they go right to building and then they wonder, you know, six months later, like, why isn't this working?
So this is kind of where we're heading, right? Is like, how do I build something? How do I create the life and the business that I want in a way that works for me? And I'm gonna tell you that once I saw my identity report and I started diving into behavioral science and understood myself, everything started to shift for me. Instead of fighting against my need for constant new challenges, I built that into my business model. Instead of.
16:07
forcing myself into these rigid systems that would never work for me, I created flexible structures that would work with my patterns. So we can build something for you that's going to allow you to create long-term success in a way that doesn't burn you out, in a way that doesn't feel like, my gosh, here we go again. Okay? So I love you. And here's what I want you to get curious about after today's conversation. Okay? What patterns
keep showing up in your personal life that might be showing up in your business. Do I have weak boundaries at home? Are they showing up as weak boundaries in my business? Do I like having like three friends, but then I'm trying to go viral and build like a giant audience? Hmm, maybe that's something to get curious about. So just starting to get curious about how the habits and the behaviors in your personal life might be showing up in your business and where you might sort of be contorting yourself.
or trying to fit yourself inside a box that is not meant for you. The second question I have for you is where are you trying to force yourself into strategies that feel wrong for how you are naturally wired to operate? Again, with the content thing, I'm just gonna keep coming back to this. Like, do you keep trying to post four times a day? Because that's what the Instagram growth gurus say to do. But like, you hardly talk to your best friends. You talk to them like once a month for check-ins. Like, maybe that content strategy is never gonna work for you, right? Okay.
And the last question is, what would change if you built your business, if you started to consider building your business around your actual operating system instead of copying what works for someone else? Okay. Now over the next couple of weeks, we're going to keep diving into this intersection of behavioral science and entrepreneurship, how your personal life overlaps with your business. We're going to talk about.
like different patterns, we're gonna talk about different energy styles, decision-making styles. I'm gonna start to introduce you to some of the behavioral work and the identity work. We're gonna talk about your foundations. We're gonna start to get things really solid. I hope that this served you. I love you. And I want you to remember something as you move through your week, okay? Your humanness or differentiating factors, the things that make you who you are, your energy, your voice, your...
18:26
decision-making style, your communication style, who you you you, you is your superpower. You is the differentiating factor. And in a world that is oversaturated with AI and content that all sounds the same, the more you can get familiar and in tune with your behaviors, with who you are and start building from that place, the more success you're gonna have because people are getting really tired of seeing the same stuff over and over and over again. So let's dive in, let's keep going.
Get curious and I'll see you right here next week on 17 minutes. I love you. I'll see you soon.
